Krewes of Excalibur, Athena in Metairie postpone because of storms

The Krewe of Excalibur and the Krewe of Athena, which were scheduled to roll in Metairie Friday (Feb. 17), have postponed their rides due to severe thunderstorms headed to the area. Each krewe has decided to reschedule its parade for next weekend.

The Krewe of Excalibur is set to roll immediately following the Krewe of Centurions on Friday, Feb. 24. Centurions rolls at 7:30 p.m.

The Krewe of Athena will roll immediately following the Corps de Napoleon on Sunday, Feb. 26. Napoleon rolls at 5 p.m.

No other changes to this weekend's parade schedule have been made. The Krewe of Adonis, the only Westbank parade, will roll on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at 11:45am.

Saturday, February 18, 2017, at 10am The Mardi Gras 5K sponsored by District 5 Councilwoman Jennifer Van Vrancken and the New Orleans Track Club, will be held. The family friendly run/walk will start on Veterans Memorial Boulevard under the Causeway overpass, running out towards Bonnabel Boulievard and back to a spectacular finish. The race finish will coincide with Family Gras 2017.

Saturday night the Krewe of Caesar will roll in Metairie starting at 6:00pm.
